1.2 - Creating the Scene Out of Primitives
For this week’s assignment, our class had to create a scene representing some part of where we were using at least 200 simple primitive sprites with color. At first, I wanted to do my daily morning running route, which was roughly 1.5 miles. I think I got almost 200 game objects in before I decided to completely scrap it, because while I met the quota relatively quickly, it also looked really bad.
So I decided to change gears and recreate my room in a new scene.
By the end of the first lab, I was at roughly 150 objects, so I still had 50 more to go. At this point, I felt like I had largely represented the important parts of my room with the exception of many smaller objects which were more difficult to recreate with primitives unless I used a bunch of small ones, which I was not inclined to do. I got the idea of adding a giant squid to go with my whale and that bumped the number of objects up to roughly 185. Lastly to reach the 200 mark, I planned to add a seahorse as another piece of marine life to my room, but it ended up looking a lot like Godzilla part way through, so it is now Godzilla.
